In October I will be the quilter for the Comfort Circle of do.Good Stitches (a charity bee). That means I can also design the quilt or make the plan for it.
This is the plan for my fellow bee members:
In October 2014 we will be making house blocks. The houses can be wonky or straight, big or small, simple or detailed; a block can portray one house or a grouping of smaller houses. The background fabric should be yellow, print or solid. And please don't add grass or another base the house stands on; just let it float in the yellow background. The blocks should finish at 12" square so please make them 12.5" square. Each member makes two blocks.
On Pinterest I have collected a few tutorials for house quilt blocks. Here is a link to the pinboard. It's not necessary to use one of these tutorials, please get as creative as you like!
Below are the blocks I made. I dove into my scrap pile for most of the fabrics I used. They were a lot of fun to make, and quite fast.
a wonky house
a scrappy house on a scrappy background
Here are the two blocks waiting for the others to form a village together. I can't wait to see what everyone makes!
