For traveling

Yesterday I received the newest edition of the Sew Hip magazine. It has lots of sewing ideas for the summer, especially for things that are nice to use during a vacation (like a beach bag). Why didn't I receive this magazine two weeks earlier? Now I don't have time anymore to make all those nice and useful things before my vacation.

I did manage to make one thing though (it said 'in 4 easy steps', so I thought I would try it). A patchwork wallet for my passport. It was fun and quick to make (it really was easy); I only need to add a snap button and it will be finished.

And I guess I'll make that beach bag after the summer for next year. I have the perfect fabric!

My creative space 03

Today in my creative space I have two items of clothing that need alterations.

The shirt needs a few stitches so it is a bit more 'decent'. That way I will be able to wear it without a top underneath. The skirt needs to be a bit shorter (a bit less decent, haha). I don't want to cut off the bottom though, because it is the nicest part of the skirt. I'm going to try to take out part of the lightest colored tier. Wish me luck!

Sunny zipper pouches

A little shop update:

I made some Sunny zipper pouches and they are fresh in my Etsy shop!

All pouches are fully lined. I attached the lining by hand with embroidery thread. It was a lot of fun to do, eventhough my fingers are hurting a little now.

I loved making these pouches!

Craft Hope

I want to tell you about a project I am participating in. It is called Craft Hope and it is a series of charity projects that you can get involved in by being crafty.
Currently they are collecting items for babies in an orphanage in India. The dead line for them to receive your item(s) is July 25, quite soon. Luckily the items that are required are not very hard to make. You can make caps (like the ones I made for Mama to Mama), handkerchiefs, blankets. You can knit, sew, crochet. What ever you can do.

I sewed a blanket and three hankies, and sent them in, so they can hopefully be put to good use in caring for babies that don't have anything at all.

Summer music

For today I was trying to find a French song (14 juilliet), but I just can't find the right one. So here is an Italian song that we heard a lot on a previous vacation. It's Max Pezzali with Lo strano percorso.



We'll go to Italy again soon, to Venice. I wonder what song we'll return with this time. Before we go I'll have to recover from yet another infection in my leg. I'm going a little crazy, it is the 4th time in 3 months...

Appeltaart Apron

A couple of months ago, Amy Karol (Angry Chicken) announced the Pie-Making Apron challenge on her apron blog Tie one on. I really liked that theme and thought it was the perfect inspiration!

I made an Appeltaart (Apple Pie) Apron for Damaris. She is a star at making these pies. And I set out to make an apron for her that was cool, girly but not pink, slightly apple-themed, and fun to make.

Baggy Bag Give Away

I love to make things. Because I want to have them, or just for the fun of making. Things in this last category usually end up in my Etsy shop.
I made this bag a while ago. It is made from a pattern in a book (it is the Hobo bag from Sew Everything Workshop). That's why I didn't think I could put it in my Etsy shop; it is not my original creation. But I also don't need another bag (for now). So... I'm giving it away to you.

I did add a little original detail: the fabric rosette. I have more of these rosettes in my shop, but this one you get for free with the bag.
