You might have already seen that a couple of Dutch quilting friends and me have started a quiltalong, the Double Dutch random sampler quiltalong. Here is Lotje's introduction.
The quiltalong will be very informal. You make the blocks you like, maybe some extras of the easy ones or your favorites. You add something you have lying around, you add a special scrap you have been saving for the right project. After you have collected enough blocks you start thinking about a layout. That's how you end up with a random sampler. Below is an example of what that might look like (also made by the Double Dutch ladies, we all brought some blocks and some fabric and made this one Sunday for charity).
I'm starting with blocks I have made for my 'sampler of some sort'. I'm using two fat quarter bundles and some dotted background fabric. I might add more fabric as I go along. These are the blocks I have so far.
Lotje presented the first block of our Double Dutch qal: a tangram house block. I made two of them.
The next block will be presented by me at the end of this month. So stay tuned for that!
Come quilt along with us! If you post a photo of your blocks on Instagram use the hashtag #doubledutchqal so we can all see your photo. Please also become a member of our Flickr group for this qal and post your photos there.
