This month I didn't set any official Lovely Year of Finishes goals. It was because I knew I wanted to finish some secret projects that I didn't want to reveal before they were finished and presented as gifts. It was a bit strange not to Instagram or Flickr about what I was doing and I thought that my relative silence would give away that I was doing something secret, but it all worked out. Here are my finishes!
First I finished a Double Dutch round robin block to be a quilt for my mother. Because of health issues I felt she was in need of some extra warmth and hugs, and a quilt can provide a bit of that. My mother was very surprised and happy when I gave her the quilt, and I was very happy to make it for her!
The backing of the quilt has some handpicked Farmer's Wife blocks that I have made plenty of and that I feel need to be put to good use.
My other finish this month was a mini quilt. I made it for my mother-in-law as a birthday gift. I wanted to make something fun. My mother-in-law has several birds in her home right now, but actually she is a cat person. Unfortunately her husband is allergic to cats, otherwise I am sure they would have had cats instead of birds. I wanted to play with the idea of what would happen if a cat would visit their house. That's why the feather is there. I also added some Farmer's Wife blocks here. I'm so glad my mother-in-law loved the mini when I gave it to her!
