I have been working on the quilt for Damaris.
I pinned the fabric sandwich together (with 260 safety pins!).
Then I attempted to sew the layers together with my sewing machine. That was a bit of a disaster... The semi-quilting foot that came with my machine didn't really work. All the stitches had a different size and they didn't go in a straight line. Then I used the normal pressure foot for a while, but ended up with lots of puckers and sore shoulders from trying to guide the fabric through the machine. After 3 lines of quilting and a bad night's sleep about ruining my hard work, I decided to un-stitch those three lines and tie the quilt with little knots instead.
Ripping out the stitches took a long time but it was such a relief!
Now I´m slowly stitching embroidery thread through every corner meeting point and tying cute purple knots. So much better!!!!
I´m also thinking of buying a new sewing machine that can be equipped with a walking foot (unlike my second hand Pfaff). I´m thinking of a Janome. Any recommendations?
