This is what I am working on: A quilt to go with the cushion I made recently. For now it still looks like a big pile of fabric pieces, but it is slowly taking shape.

I want to make a quilt for Damaris. I bought Alicia Paulson's Ollalieberry Ice Cream Quilt pattern and have started to cut squares of Hope Valley (I have a FQ set of the whole collection!!). All those cut off edges are too good to just put in my scrap bin, so I made a cushion cover.
The quilt is still in progress (still cutting squares...), but the cushion cover is done and has already been hugged. By the, very deserving, best girl in the world!
I still have some scraps left and put those in a special bag, they are just too good... Look at these happy scraps!

I think nobody missed that there was an earthquake with many victims, in one of the world's poorest countries, Haiti. As frustrating as it may seem, giving money to charities is the only sensible thing to do right now. Making a nice blanket for one of the victims would be great but there is just no way to get that blanket to someone over there, and the people in Haiti first need their lives saved before they can start adding color and comfort to their lives. Large charitable organizations have just the best opportunity to do good work at the moment. In the Netherlands you can donate to Giro555.
There is still a way to help by using your craft. Craft Hope is setting up an Etsy shop to earn money for Doctors without Borders so they can do their work in Haiti. I donated an item from my Etsy shop to the shop. You can help as well: by donating items to the shop or by actually buying something in there.

Today I want to show you my window sill.
These are all treasures I've had since I was small. The rabbit is a pencil sharpener. I made the ceramic box myself.
Some great beads I found at a new shop in Leiden, Bijoux Le Nur. In a bowl by me.

Craft Hope has a new project up. Another chance to contribute to charity with your crafty skills. This time it is a knitting project: The Orphan Foundation of America is asking for scarves to give to foster children that are going to college. The project is called The Red Scarf program, but other unisex colors are welcome too. I am knitting a white scarf because I love the way knitting stitches look when they are done in white yarn.
You can join too and knit up a nice scarf. The date by which it needs to be received by the organization is February 14 (my birthday!).
Wow! I have been blogging for two years today! Here's a little snow heart for everyone that visits here and reads what I write. Thank you!!!
Last night we had another little Epiphany celebration (2008, 2009) and we all found a bean (corn kernel, I didn't have any dry beans). Emil made us all a paper crown. This must be his favorite holiday, and it is the one he is unofficially in charge of (he ordered me to make the bread, and I was fine with that). We had a fun time! (and I forgot to photograph the bread, just like two years ago) Frederik couldn't celebrate with us because he was having trouble getting home from Romania because of snow around the airport. But he made it home late last night. And Emil gave him his crown this morning.
I finished the 16th (last) block of my stars quilt yesterday afternoon (aah, stars, that's how those kings, and Frederik, found us!). I have started to cut strips to make the binding now.
After this I'll assemble and sew the quilt top together. Here's a mosaic of what it could end up looking like.
What are my plans for 2010?
I'm continuing my classes in ceramics, yoga, and fabric design
I will be participating in Bee Europa all year long
We will go to China in May, and are planning to visit the US in the summer
I will continue to get most of my books from the library instead of buying them
I want to make a quilt for Damaris and a quilt for Emil
First I want to finish the Friendship Star quilt (with an Ohio Star here and there) that I started
I should finish the knitting projects that I had planned: a sleeveless sweater for Frederik and a cardigan for Damaris (my note book on Ravelry)
I'll try to give even more handmade presents this year (I did a good job around Christmas)
I will keep on crafting, blogging, keeping shop on Etsy, having fun on Flickr
P.s. Did you see, the passport wallet I made last summer was in Sew Hip Magazine 13, in the Readers Gallery? I can't figure out why they didn't use the photo of the much nicer outside of the wallet???
